Many things can affect your life expectancy -- that is, how long you will live. Of course, if you live a healthy life and take good care of yourself, you will probably live longer. But you may be surprised by some of the factors that can affect your life expectancy!

To help predict how long you will live, complete the following exercise. Begin with the number 72. Then add and subtract years according to these instructions:

If you are male, subtract 3. If you are female, add 4    ___
If you live in a city with a population of over half a million, subtract 2. ___
If you live in a tow with a population of under 10,000, add 2. ___
For each of your grandparents who lived to 80 or more, add 1; if all four grandparents lived to 80, add 6. ___
If either parent died of a stroke or heart attack before the age of 50, subtract 4. ___
If any parent, brother or sister under 50 has(or had) cancer or a heart condition, or has had diabetes since childhood, subtract 3. ___
If you earn more than $50,000 a year, subtract 2. ___
If you live withe someone(a spouse, other relatives or a friend) add 5. If you live alone, subtract 4. ___

Age adjustment
If you are between 30 and 40, add 2. ___
If you are between 40 and 50, add 3. ___
If you are between 50 and 70, add 4. ___
If you are over 70, add 5. ___

If you are intense and aggressive, subtract 3. ___
If you are easy-going and relaxed, add 3. ___
Are you happy? Add 1. Unhappy? Subtract 2. ___
If you have been stopped by the police for speeding in the last year, subtract 1. ___
Do you smoke? If you smoke more than two packs of cigarettes a day, subtract 10; between one and two packs, subtract 6; less than a pack, subtract 2. ___
If you are a moderate drinker (one or two ounces of hard liquor, half a litre of wine, or four glasses of beer a day), add 3; if you never drink alcohol, subtract 1; if you are a heavy drinker, subtract 8. ___
If you are overweight by 50lbs,(22.5 Kg) or more, subtract 8; by 30 to 50 lbs(13.5 to 22.5 Kg), subtract 4; by 10 to 30 lbs(4.5 to 13.5 Kg), subtract 2. ___
If you have a complete medical check-up at least once a year, add 2. ___
If you eat more fruits and vegetables than meat and fatty foods, add 1. ___
If you always stop eating before you're full, add 1. ___
